Pallavi Dean founded Roar in Dubai in 2013, establishing a design studio built around research, creativity and the experience of the people who use a space.
Since its foundation, Roar has grown into a multidisciplinary architecture and interior design practice with more than 350 completed projects across the region. Its portfolio covers hospitality, workplaces, residential developments, retail, education and community spaces.
Dean’s background extends beyond conventional interior design. Her approach combines design with research and user experience, resulting in spaces that are intended to function as well as they look.
For Dean, people are at the centre of the design process. Rather than beginning with a predetermined aesthetic, Roar explores how a space will be used, how people will move through it and how the environment can influence their experience.
The result is often playful, unexpected and highly individual, while remaining grounded in practical considerations.
